What's up, blogging world!?
This is my public blog (I also have a private one, watch out! It's where I keep the secrets of the world). This blog, however, will share a lot of my thoughts, opinions, etc. Just not so much on the super-personal details that no one ever wants to hear about anyways. "Help me help you." =]
So, I figured I'd start this off by answering some questions you all might have.
Why are you "A Voice for the Socially Awkward?"
Well, you'll see (god, especially if you watch my Youtube) that I'm not the most charismatic or charming person. In reality, I am quite shy, quiet, and I often keep my opinions to myself. The internet, as it does for many people, allows me to be more open and voice myself to more people who are willing to listen. Or at least bored enough to listen, haha.
I'm not the kind of person who parties all the time, I'm the kind of person who missed a lot of parties because I was studying. I don't just make conversation with people in public. I'm not extremely outgoing. I encourage others who are socially awkward to give the "internet social world" a try. I'm pretty new to it all still, so we'll see if there's a place for me.
Your accent is funny! Where are you from?
Right now, I reside in the Bay area of California. However, I am originally from Western New York, right on the border of Canada. Therefore, I have a WNY accent with a twist of Canadian (soory, eh?) thrown in. Get used to it, it's not going away.
You're not stick thin! Aren't you embarrassed to put yourself on videos?
No, no I am not. I'm very confident, and also very aware, of my appearance.
What are some of your favorite things to talk about?
Mainly, FML (eff my life) moments! I have a theory that at least one "FML" happens to me everyday. Last night branching into this morning was a particularly bad experience. More on that later. I also enjoy talking about everyday interactions, fashion/make-up, asking people for their opinions, etc.
What other projects are you working on?
I'm currently working on partnering with a very close friend of mine on a possible web 'zine. It would review different movies, videogames, music, etc. based on first-hand experiences. I am very interested and eager to participate.
I have my Youtube channel, which I used to be active with, shut down for awhile, and now am back to doing again. I try to be semi-regular about posting videos, although I will always argue for quality over quantity. I'm very open to collaborations and/or taking your ideas too. If there's ever a topic you want to laugh at while I attempt to talk about it, toss it my way. =P
What social networking sites can I find you on?
Oh dear. More like, what can't you find me on? Obviously, here. And then here are the addresses for my other sites that I check regularly:
www.youtube.com/MixieBaer
www.facebook.com/MixieBear
www.twitter.com/MixieBear
www.myspace.com/amorepropre (haha, that's where the pattern breaks. Now I threw you off!)
www.gaiaonline.com (username: SaylorMars)
Where can I direct questions/comments/how can I get into contact with you?
I don't use any instant messengers regularly, so your best bet is adding me on a social networking website and getting into contact with me that way.
Why does your name switch between MixieBear and MixieBaer?
Pretty much based on availability at the time I signed up for the websites. "Mixie Bear" is one of my favorite nicknames, given by a close friend. "Mixie Baer" is what I settle for when "Mixie Bear" isn't available, because when you say it out loud, well...it still sounds like Mixie Bear. =P
Hopefully I keep this going. I'm looking forward to it!
